Lining of Water Reservoir – Hvaler

With full internal PE lining, Bluegreen has given new life to an existing water reservoir, ensuring a robust solution for safe and reliable water supply for decades to come.

Project description

Bluegreen has carried out complete lining of an older water reservoir to secure stable and safe water supply for local residents. The project includes the delivery and installation of a complete PE liner in an existing concrete reservoir, which over time required upgrading to meet current requirements for hygiene, safety, and service life.

The reservoir is a large structure with a circumference of more than 60 metres and a diameter of 18 metres, constructed with a concrete floor, concrete roof, and load-bearing concrete columns. Bluegreen’s solution involves lining the entire internal surface—walls, floor, and columns—with 4 mm PE sheets, providing a watertight, corrosion-free, and low-maintenance surface.

All welding is carried out by Bluegreen’s own skilled technicians. The work includes 32 welds around the reservoir walls, in addition to extensive welding on the floor and around the concrete columns. All work is performed on site using modern, fully documented welding equipment to ensure quality in every joint.

The solution provides Hvaler municipality with a renewed and robust water reservoir that can withstand heavy loads, is easy to maintain, and ensures safe water management for many decades ahead. The project is a strong example of how PE solutions can be used to extend the service life of existing water infrastructure.
