The construction of three impressive FishGlobes is well underway, with both the 10K, 3.5K, and the record-breaking 30K progressing steadily. The FishGlobe 30K will become the world’s largest closed fish farming system, and recently, the international end customer visited the site to get a first-hand impression of this groundbreaking project.
The construction of the three remarkable FishGlobes is making great strides at the site. The first two units, FishGlobe 10K and 3.5K, are beginning to take shape, and work on the giant FishGlobe 30K is also in its early stages. Once completed, this massive structure will be the world’s largest closed aquaculture facility and the largest structure ever made from thermoplastics – with an astonishing volume of 30,000 m³. For comparison, the current record holder, Marine Donut, has a volume of 22,000 m³.
Earlier today, FishGlobe, led by Co-Director Tor Magne Madsen, conducted a site visit together with the international end customer. It was the customer’s first time seeing the structures in person, and they were visibly impressed with the progress and the immense scale of the project.
“I have been sending weekly status reports to the customer, but seeing the structures up close provides a completely different experience,” says Madsen. – “The dimensions are simply overwhelming when you stand next to them.”
With a volume of 30,000 m³, the FishGlobe 30K is a pioneering construction in aquaculture. It is designed to accommodate up to 2 MTB, equivalent to 360,000 salmon in market-ready size. This will set a new standard for what is possible in sustainable aquaculture.
“This is going to be HUGE!” Madsen exclaims with a big smile.
The identity of the international end customer remains a closely guarded secret for now.
“We will release a press statement about this very soon,” Madsen reveals.
Madsen is full of praise for the collaboration with Bluegreen.
– “The design, construction methods, and quality systems at Bluegreen are all at an exceptional level. The process has been smooth and characterized by great teamwork. We are very pleased,” he emphasizes.
The progress at the construction site bodes well for the completion of the three FishGlobes, which represent a new chapter for closed aquaculture systems and sustainable fish farming. Stay tuned for more updates on the project and the announcement of the exciting customer!
