Bluegreen has received principle approval from DNV for Marine Donut 2.0. The approval confirms that the solution is approved for use at reduced production volume in the red zone.
Last autumn, the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries adopted a new regulation (Production Area Regulation §15) that allows the use of reduced production capacity in closed production units—provided that the unit meets strict requirements related to, among other things, stocking density, treatment efficiency, escape prevention, and documentation.

DNV has now verified and approved that Marine Donut meets these requirements and is therefore officially approved for the use of reduced production volume in the so-called “red zone.” This currently applies to production areas 3 and 4, from Karmøy to Stadt.
“This is an important milestone for Bluegreen and for the continued development of Marine Donut. The principle approval confirms that our concept is in line with regulatory requirements,” says Bluegreen.
The approval was issued on 19 December 2025 and applies to the product Marine Donut 2.0, with DNV Business Assurance as the accredited certification body.
