Bluegreen is strengthening its team and welcomes Markus Wallin as a new Project Manager. With more than 30 years of experience from the construction industry, he brings solid expertise – and a clear perspective on what it takes to succeed in project execution.
“I started as a carpentry apprentice in 1992 and have worked in the construction industry ever since. Over time, I earned my master craftsman certification and ran my own company for 13 years before moving into project management and engineering at Protan Entreprenør. There, I had the opportunity to work on major projects such as Oslofjord Convention Center, Hima Seafood in Rjukan, and the Viking Age Museum,” Markus explains.
For the past 12 years, he has worked on complex projects from start to finish – from initial inquiry to final delivery.
Joining Bluegreen was about more than just changing jobs.
“I’ve worked in project management for many years, but I was motivated to try something new. Bluegreen operates in a high-potential industry with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation. That really appealed to me.”
He also highlights the material itself as a key factor:
“Thermoplastics are exciting – flexible, durable, and recyclable – yet still not widely used in structural applications. There’s a lot happening in this field.”
Bluegreen is actively pushing the boundaries of thermoplastics across industries, from aquaculture to infrastructure and industrial applications.
As a project manager, Markus will be responsible for maintaining oversight, ensuring progress, and managing resources effectively.
“The job is about coordinating and leading projects, ensuring good planning, and keeping control of finances and resources. But the most important part is the people out in the field.”
He is clear on one thing:
“There’s a difference between being a boss and being a leader. You need to see your people and bring out the best in them – not just assign tasks from the top down. That’s when projects really start to flow.”
Starting in a new environment is something Markus looks forward to.
“I enjoy getting to know new people and building relationships. I’m also looking forward to learning how thermoplastics are applied in practice and understanding the HSE challenges we work with here.”
He also emphasizes the importance of internal collaboration:
“It will be important to create strong alignment between what happens in production and what happens on the drawing board. When those two are connected, you get strong project execution.”
His first impression of Bluegreen is clear:
“It’s an incredibly exciting company. Bluegreen operates across several industries and has multiple legs to stand on. Thermoplastics have a wide range of applications – from aquaculture to CO₂ capture and energy facilities. That’s the kind of development that makes this interesting.”
When he’s not at work, Markus is either at home in Nevlunghavn – or out on the water.
“I have three children aged 17, 19, and 22, and currently two of them still live at home. For many years, a lot of my time went into following up my kids – including 12 years as a football coach. Summer is best spent on the sea, at our cabin in the Helgeroa fjord, and preferably with a visit to Wrightegaarden in Langesund.”
With Markus on board, Bluegreen gains a project manager with hands-on experience from the field – and a clear understanding of what it takes to deliver strong projects. Someone who believes in teamwork, structure, and execution – and who is ready to take on new challenges.
