On paper, a new piping system can look neat and straightforward. In reality, working within an existing aquaculture facility is often a little more complicated.
Space is limited. Existing pipes, cables and structures must be taken into account. Several contractors may be working at the same time, while new equipment needs to be connected to installations that are already in place.
That places high demands on the team carrying out the work.
When upgrading an existing facility, new pipes and components must be adapted to the conditions on site. Dimensions and locations may differ from the drawings. The installation sequence has to be coordinated with other disciplines, and practical challenges can arise along the way.
That is why the project needs skilled professionals who can work according to the plans while also handling the realities they encounter on site.

Good preparation can make the work on site much more efficient. Pipe sections, bends, branch connections, manifolds and other components can be prefabricated in the workshop before being shipped to site. This reduces the amount of fabrication required at the facility and makes it possible to quality-check much of the work in advance.
At the same time, the contractor must be able to make the necessary adjustments when actual site conditions differ from the drawings.
Bluegreen combines its own plastics workshop and prefabrication capacity with skilled professionals who carry out welding, lining and installation on site.
Bluegreen does not develop the process solution. We work together with technology providers, consultants and the customer’s project organisation to build and install the solution they have chosen.
At Salmon Evolution’s facility in Volda, Sterner was the main contractor and responsible for the technology. Bluegreen carried out the piping, installation and adaptation of process equipment when an existing 18-metre fish tank was converted to a hybrid solution.
The project required, among other things, process piping in dimensions ranging from 75 to 500 millimetres, as well as close coordination between several technical disciplines.
