The series "Ocean Titans" showcases businesses that promote the sustainable use and management of ocean resources on Reuters. Bluegreen was handpicked to participate in the series with our Marine Donut.
The ocean, covering over 70% of the Earth's surface, is a significant source of food and income for millions of people around the world. Fisheries and aquaculture are important livelihoods for many communities. However, the ocean is under pressure from factors such as climate change, pollution, and overfishing.
This was the backdrop when the World Ocean Council (WOC) was established in 2008. It is an international organization founded to gather and represent private companies and businesses in the ocean sector. The goal is to promote the sustainable use and management of ocean resources and address global challenges related to the ocean.
Special Interest Films recognized an opportunity to highlight the stories of companies, organizations, and researchers working in various ways to achieve WOC's goals. In collaboration with Reuters, the series "OCEAN TITANS" was created.
We decided to create a documentary about Bluegreen due to their innovative and eco-friendly solution to aquaculture. The Marine Donut project with SalMar was also a significant factor in our decision and we wanted to ensure that it receives the attention it deserves.
