Bluegreen is now working on the final stage of its very first project: a new main water pipeline for MOVAR. The delivery is nearing the finish line in Moss.
Some projects mean a little more. For Bluegreen, this is definitely one of them.
In the spring of 2021, shortly after our company was founded, we signed our very first contract: delivering pipe welding services for a new main water pipeline for MOVAR IKS, in collaboration with main contractor Råde Graveservice. Now – four years and many kilometers of pipe later – we are in the final and third phase of the project.
MOVAR (Moss Region Water, Wastewater and Sanitation) is building a new main water pipeline from Årvoll in Moss to the municipal border of Vestby – a stretch of 9.15 kilometers. The goal is to strengthen the capacity and security of the region’s water supply for the next 100 years.
The project aims to:
Increase supply security by establishing two independent water transport routes
Improve firewater access in previously vulnerable areas
Enable future emergency water-sharing between Østfold, Follo, and Oslo municipalities
The project is scheduled for completion in 2026 and has been designed by Cowi AS.
Bluegreen’s role is to weld and install PE pipes for the water infrastructure. The welding is carried out using McElroy fusion machines – both inside and alongside the trench, depending on terrain and progress. Our team on site ensures strong joints, steady progress, and safe installation.
Plastic welder Frank Netteland has spent a lot of time on the project.
“There’s something special about this project,” says Netteland.
“MOVAR has been with us since the very beginning. We’re proud to contribute to such an important infrastructure initiative – and especially proud of the great collaboration we’ve had with Råde Graveservice throughout. They’re truly great people to work with.”
Kjell Arild Karlsen, project manager at Råde Graveservice, is also pleased with the collaboration and explains why Bluegreen was chosen:
“We chose Bluegreen because they had McElroy welding machines. These machines make the job easier and more efficient for us as contractors – they have their own fuel tanks, hydraulic mirrors and facing tools, and they’re track-mounted. It was a perfect match for a project like the MOVAR pipeline.”
“ Bluegreen has skilled professionals who have completed over 500 welds without a single leak. It's an impressive achievement that we at RGS are very pleased with. Kjell Arild Karlsen, project manager in Råde Graveservice

With the final stage underway, Bluegreen is approaching not just the end of the pipeline – but the completion of an important milestone in the company's history.
