Bluegreen and Sterner team up to install new water treatment tech for improved fish welfare and environmental performance.
Bluegreen has signed a new contract related to Salmon Evolution’s smolt facility at Dale in Volda municipality. The project involves converting one of the facility’s tanks from a traditional flow-through system to a hybrid flow-through solution.
“The main goal of the upgrade is to improve water quality and create a more stable aquatic environment for the smolt,” says Bård Bergan at Bluegreen.
In the tank – which has a diameter of 18 meters – a CO₂ stripper, drum filter, and an Oxytech 8000 will be installed. The technology is delivered by Sterner, who has been awarded the contract by Salmon Evolution. Bluegreen is a subcontractor responsible for piping, installation, and integration of the equipment. Work begins in May, with main installation set for June, and will involve a team of 2–3 skilled workers from Bluegreen.
“This is initially an upgrade of one tank. If the results are positive and the improvements in water conditions are as expected, it’s natural to consider similar upgrades for additional tanks at the facility,” says Martin Hagenlund, Project Manager at Sterner.
Salmon Evolution is a pioneer in land-based aquaculture and is known for its strong commitment to sustainability and fish welfare. This upgrade is part of their ongoing efforts to optimize production conditions, and Bluegreen is proud to contribute its expertise to the project.
