Bluegreen has contributed to the construction of Grieg Seafood’s new land-based post-smolt facility in Adamselv, Finnmark, with responsibility for PE lining of fish tanks and the RAS system in the extensive facility. We have also been awarded the contract for delivery of process piping, a scope of work that is still ongoing.

The project is part of Grieg Seafood’s long-term strategy to improve fish welfare and enable more sustainable production by moving a larger share of the farming cycle onto land. The new post-smolt facility is connected to the company’s existing smolt plant in Adamselv and facilitates more controlled production prior to sea transfer.
We are engaged as a subcontractor for Overhalla Betongbygg, a company we have had the pleasure of cooperating with on several landbased projects.
– This is a large-scale project with high execution requirements. In land-based facilities like this, the quality of the tanks is crucial for both operational reliability and fish welfare, says Sondre Thorsen, COO at Bluegreen.
Bluegreen’s scope included PE lining of fish tanks and the RAS area in a facility with two post-smolt modules and large tank volumes. The work was carried out under strict requirements for precision, quality, and documentation, with solutions tailored to both biological and technical demands in modern land-based aquaculture.
– PE lining provides robust, hygienic, and reliable tanks. When executed correctly, these solutions contribute to better production control and reduced biological risk over time, Thorsen explains.
Bluegreen has also been engaged to deliver the piping contract for this project.
The land-based post-smolt facility in Adamselv is an important initiative to improve fish health and reduce exposure to disease and sea lice during the sea phase. At the same time, the project supports Grieg Seafood’s goal of continued growth with a lower environmental footprint.
The project is a strong example of Bluegreen’s expertise in thermoplastic solutions for land-based aquaculture, and our role as a reliable subcontractor in large and technically demanding projects.
“ We are very satisfied with both the collaboration and the delivery from Bluegreen. Odd André Devik Amdal in Overhalla Betongbygg
