The recently adopted aquaculture regulation opens new opportunities for closed fish farming systems at sea – and gives Bluegreen fresh wind in its sails. The company is now expanding its workforce.
– This is an important milestone for the entire aquaculture industry – and a real gamechanger for us, says Elg Ragnar Thunes, HSE and HR Manager at Bluegreen.
– We’ve experienced strong growth for several years and have managed peak periods through temporary hires. But with the new regulation and increasing demand for our solutions, we’re ready to invest in more permanent employees. This is about preparing for the future – and building strong teams for long-term growth.
The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries’ new regulation allows continued production in red zones – provided the facilities use closed production systems that meet strict requirements for containment, watertightness, and water purification. Marine Donut, developed by Bluegreen, is one such solution.
– Our technology has been under development and testing for several years, and with this regulation now in place, we expect strong demand going forward. That’s why we’re strengthening our permanent workforce, says Thunes.
The new positions are within plastic welding and plastic fabrication, and Bluegreen welcomes both experienced candidates and skilled tradespeople eager to learn the craft.
– You can work full time at our facilities in Bamble, either at the plastics workshop or at our construction yard, where we build large floating plastic structures. Or you can work in the field – on rotation across Norway or abroad. Or both. What matters most is that you take pride in your work and enjoy taking responsibility, Thunes explains.

The application deadline is 16 November. We’ve already received nearly 70 applications, but we’d love to hear from more candidates.
– Once the deadline has passed, we’ll carefully review all applications and invite selected candidates to interviews.
One who has already made the switch is Even André Dalevold. With a background as an industrial pipefitter and 20 years of experience in steel, he deliberately changed fields when he joined Bluegreen in 2024.
– Working with plastic is much more comfortable: less dust, less vibration – and I’m learning something new every day. It’s rewarding to be part of projects that build something big and meaningful, he says.
Bluegreen currently employs around 70 people at its headquarters in Bamble. With the ten new hires, the team will approach 80 – and the growth doesn’t stop there.
– With clear regulatory frameworks and strong market interest, the timing is perfect to take the next step. We’re building the team for the future, Thunes concludes.
