Skanska won the contract to build the stretch between Fornebukrysset and Strand on the E18 West Corridor. The project also includes a new route for water and sewage. Bluegreen has been selected as the supplier for the plastic welding work.
The stretch Skanska will design and build is not long, but involves significant and complex work:
A total of 2.3 kilometers of new E18 with 2x3 lanes between Fornebukrysset and Strand in Bærum municipality. Additionally, there are merge lanes along parts of the stretch. The construction of 660 meters of the Høviktunnelen is also included in the contract, of which 440 meters are rock tunnels.
A new road connection to Fornebu. This includes the Vestre lenke from Arenakrysset on Fornebu to the project boundary at Gjønnestunnelen just north of the Høviktunnelen.
A new main bicycle path between Fornebukrysset and Strand.
Modifications to adjacent local road systems with pedestrian and bicycle paths.
Around 60 larger and smaller structures and technical buildings are also included in the contract.
"We will use both 800 mm and 1600 mm PE pipes for this job," says Bård Bergan, project engineer at Bluegreen. "The stretch isn't so long, but it's self-evident that in this area of Oslo, infrastructure is extremely dense. In addition, the work will proceed simultaneously with heavy traffic on the E18 right nearby.
"This is our first job for Skanska. They are collaborating with Martinsen and Duvholt on this project, whom we know well, so it opened some doors," says Bergan.
We appreciate the trust and look forward to taking on the task!
